Impartial Justice

February 28, 2021 Speaker: Daniel Bare Series: Exodus

Topic: Sunday Morning Sermon Passage: Exodus 23:1–13

Finishing up the passage that the ESV titles as "laws about social justice," today we examine the theme of impartiality that pervades the biblical commands on this point. In Exodus 23:1-13, we explore the Bible's instructions regarding impartial justice under the law (for both the poor and the rich, vv. 1-3, 6-9), impartial treatment toward one's neighbor (whether friend or enemy, vv. 4-5), impartial provision of care for the needy and rest for the weary (vv. 10-12), and how these themes inform our understanding of God's justice and our redemption through the good news of the gospel (v. 13).
