This afternoon we try something new and a little bit different -- reading and analyzing some primary sources from the 16th century. First we read and consider several martyrdom accounts from both Western and Eastern sources, comparing and contrasting these accounts to see what they can tell us about their respective religious perspectives. Second, we briefly look at some of the exchange/debate between Lutherans and Orthodox on the issue of icons and prayers to the saints.
