In today's Sunday School lesson, Pastor Shawn teaches about the Gnostic heresy that confronted the early church. Among other things, Gnostics believed that the material world is inherently evil and that salvation consisted of liberating the soul from the body by accessing special, esoteric knowledge that was passed down outside of Scripture. In this session, we not only introduce some of the main beliefs of the Gnostics, but also evaluate how Scripture contradicts these heretical claims.
