Our Sunday School study of the 1689 London Baptist Confession continues this week in chapter 2, paragraph 2. Pastor Shawn leads our examination of the confession, explaining how God is the source of all being and how this naturally entails that he has absolute sovereign dominion over all his creatures.
The relevant portion of the confession reads: "he is the alone fountain of all being, of whom, through whom, and to whom are all things, and he hath most sovereign dominion over all creatures, to do by them, for them, or upon them, whatsoever himself pleaseth."
The modern-English version says: "He alone is the source of all being, and everything is from him, through him, and to him. He has absolute sovereign rule over all creatures, to act through them, for them, or upon them as he pleases."
