Preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom of God

April 23, 2017 Speaker: Daniel Bare Series: Luke

Topic: Sunday Morning Sermon Passage: Luke 8:1–3

In Luke 8:1 we are told that Jesus "went on through cities and villages, proclaiming and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God."  Many people in our day and age attempt to separate the theology of the kingdom from the theology of the cross; they posit that the gospel of the kingdom is about creating a new and better social order in the here-and-now, not about Christ's atoning work on behalf of his people.  But as we see in our study this morning, the message of the kingdom of God is not one divorced from the cross; rather, the central aspect of the kingdom of God is that the King has come to dwell among his people, he has come to save his people from their sins, and he is coming again in glory and judgment.
