Dead Man Talking

In this morning's pericope, Jesus' compassion for a mourning widow leads him to raise her son back to life.  At Jesus' very words death was dispelled and the young man arose from his funeral bier.  This miracle elicited in all the bystanders the twofold response of worship and witness.  In walking through this passage, Pastor Shawn asks us to consider whether we reflect the compassion of Jesus toward those all around us who are spiritually dead, and whose only hope is the life-giving power of the gospel.  God's miraculous work in raising us, his covenant people, to spiritual life ought to prompt us to respond in both worship toward God and evangelistic witness toward those around us.
