The Man Who Amazed Jesus

Here at the beginning of Luke chapter seven, we encounter the remarkable statement that Jesus "marveled" at the faith of a Roman centurion (verse 9).  As Pastor Joshua exegetes this passage, we find that the man who amazed Jesus was an extremely unlikely disciple -- indeed, he was one of those whom the Jews expected the Messiah to cast out of Israel.  Moreover, we see that this centurion was NOT amazed with himself, but instead demonstrated an amazing faith in Jesus as Lord.    This brief encounter reminds us that God's grace is great enough to reach even the unlikliest of sinners and to create within them hearts of faith that cling to Christ alone.
